Pierre Frantz Charles Biography

 

Pierre Frantz Charles was appointed by North Miami City Council on January 10, 2023, to serve as the Councilman of District 4 and sworn into office on January 17, 2023, to represent the people. Born and raised in Arcahaie, Haiti, Councilman Charles completed his elementary and secondary education before migrating to the United States in 1995. Like most young immigrants, he worked several odd jobs while attending college. He earned two associates of arts degrees and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Miami Dade College. He also earned a master’s degree in mathematics education from NOVA Southeastern University Fisher School of Education. For the last 15 years, Councilman Charles has been a mathematics teacher at Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS), the third largest school system in the nation. He has also worked as an adjunct professor of mathematics at Miami Dade College since 2014. 

 

Councilman Charles is the CEO and co-founder of One Stop Math Tutoring, LLC., established in April 2021. He is also the co-founder and administrator of Veronique Destine Foundation, Inc. (FVD), a nonprofit organization established in 2013, that provides community resources and educational services in Arcahaie, Haiti. 

 

He is the former Secretary and past President of the Association of Haitian Educators of Dade (AHED); a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics; a former member of North Miami CRA Advisory Board; and a past Secretary of North Miami Citizens Investigative Board (CIB). He also participated in several social endeavors and political campaigns, especially in North Miami, Florida as well as volunteered and contributed to other charitable causes in other parts of the United States and in Haiti. He is the recipient of the 2014-2015 and 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year Award at Miami Central Senior High School and the 2018-2019 Outstanding Mathematics Teacher of the Year Award from the Association of Haitian Educators of Dade, Inc. 

 

Councilman Charles is a member of the Roman Catholic Church and the coordinator of Chorale de L’Eglise and Notre Dame of Perpetual Help Choir at Notre Dame D’Haiti Catholic Church in Miami, Florida. He is also the proud father of his only child, Natalie Charles.

I am currently teaching at Miami Central Senior High and Miami Dade College as a Mathematics teacher, which has enabled me to develop a special rapport with students and staff. My duties include lesson development, classroom management, assertive techniques, student tutoring, and student performance evaluations. As a graduate of Miami Dade College and Nova Southeastern University, I have excelled academically and worked with different students and professional organizations, where I further developed my interpersonal and communication skills.
